The City of Kamloops will be testing its emergency alert system on Friday

The CIty of Kamloops will be testing its emergency notification system this week.

Residents who have signed up for the Voyent Alert system will receive a notification on Friday, May 10.

“In the event of an evacuation alert or order is put in place due to flood or wildfire, this system will be a vital way of alerting and updating the public,” the city said in a statement.

“If used, the notification will include important information about the event and instructions for if any action is required.”

Depending on what type of messaging you're registered for, the test will either go out by a text message, phone call, email or a notification through the app.

The city reminds all residents to double-check that their app is active because some devices can offload unused apps.

People should also make sure their location is set accurately on the app or through their account at Kamloops.ca/Voyent.
