Canadian shatters world record for longest plank by a woman

If you’re like most people, the idea of holding a plank position for even five minutes makes the body tremble.

That isn’t the case for Montrealer Dana Glowacka.

The Canadian recently shattered the world record for longest plank held by a woman during the 1st International Plank Training Conference in Illinois.

With Guinness World Records officials on hand, Glowacka held the pose for unbelievable four hours and twenty minutes.

That bested the previous record by nearly 50 minutes.

"Four years ago, my son received a “GWR book 2014” as a gift, finding George Hood plank, with a time plank 1hr20min done, telling me; “Mom, you can do this!” And since then Plank is On!," reads Glowacka's personal website.

"My first set was 4mins. At that time, I didn’t meet George Hood, yet. Once I did, he helps me accomplished 2hrs,25mins with no sides, in one set...

I subsequently pursued my study and practice in Ashtanga and “Yin-Yoga” as a result of my plank training to keep balance in body/mind/spirit."

However, she still has quite a ways to go to reach the top world record for planking, set in 2016 by China’s Mao Weidong with a time of eight hours and one minute.
